About

MrTinned watches the tinned fish market: prices, stock, deals, and history for 4,296 tins across the 101 shops we check daily.

What this is

Two sites, one database. The pipeline visits all tracked shops daily, records every price and stock change, and notices what appears and what disappears. AllTinned is the reference built on top: brands, species, regions, preparations, guides, a free and open collection of information. MrTinned is the market layer: live prices with history behind them, restocks, deals, and a weekly report on what the data actually shows.

Who makes it

I'm Alex. I started this in 2026 because I kept standing in front of tins wondering whether the price was fair, finding information was difficult and nothing could tell me. The database runs the only way one person can run something this size: heavily automated. The pipeline collects, I direct software and AI to do much of the checking and drafting, then I verify it, so I can answer for it. Nothing publishes that I haven't read, every claim traces back to the database, when something is wrong, there's a person that fixes it, me. It is not finished and never quite will be; the record gets corrected, refined, and expanded every week.

How the data works

Prices and stock come from the retailers' own product pages, collected daily. Every change is kept as history, which is what makes the price verdicts and the weekly rulings possible. Records are reconciled before they are believed: a listing that vanishes gets checked before it is declared gone, duplicates get merged, and a certification only stands if the source page supports it. Automated collection still produces errors, gaps, and stale entries; the report errors link on every page reaches a person, and fixes land fast.

Independence

No retailer or brand owns any part of this. Coverage is never for sale, entries are never for sale. Clearly labeled placements help fund the free reference; they buy position, not opinion.

The weekly report

The MrTinned Report goes out Saturdays: one article, the week's numbers, a tin worth knowing, a real price drop, a real deal, and more when the data earns it. Free.
