MrTinned is an independent tinned fish resource operated by a single owner. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit or use mrtinned.com, and how we use it.
When you sign up for the newsletter, we store the email address you provide and a timestamp of when you subscribed. When you create an account, we store the email address you used to sign in and, if you opted for a password, the salted hash of that password (via Supabase Auth). We do not store your password in readable form.
When you save follows, collections, cellar items, or tasting notes, we store those records against your account so we can display them back to you.
MrTinned records anonymous usage data across the site. This includes page views, navigation paths, product searches and search terms, filter and sort combinations, entity clicks (product / brand / retailer), and outbound clicks to retailers. We use this data internally, alongside aggregate traffic measurements from Vercel Analytics, to understand how the site is used and to improve the product. It feeds a small internal knowledge base of usage patterns that informs editorial and product decisions.
For logged-out visitors, this usage data is anonymous — it is not tied to any personal identity. For logged-in accounts, some usage signals may be associated with your account so we can improve your experience (e.g. surface products you have looked at, debug an issue you report). We do not use this data to build advertising profiles or share it with any advertising or analytics network beyond the aggregate reports produced by Vercel Analytics.
We set a session cookie when you sign in, so we can keep you signed in across pages. We may set a first-party identifier cookie so anonymous usage data (see Usage tracking) can be attributed to a single visit rather than counted as separate visits on every page load. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your email with any third party for marketing purposes. We do not run third-party advertising on the site. We do not sync usage data with any advertising or tracking network.
MrTinned is built on Supabase (authentication and database) and hosted on Vercel. Both providers process your data on our behalf under standard data-processing agreements. See their privacy notices for their own practices.
Some outbound retailer links on MrTinned are affiliate links, meaning we may receive a small commission if you purchase after clicking. Affiliate status does not influence which products appear on the site, and Pro members always see raw retailer URLs with no affiliate rewriting.
You can view your account data, unsubscribe from the newsletter, or delete your account at any time by contacting us. Deleting your account removes the account record and any per-account data (follows, collections, cellar items, tasting notes).
