Sardina

Founded in 1907 when Viennese industrialist Karl Varhaneck built a fish-processing factory in Postira on the island of Brac. After suspension during World War II, production resumed in 1948 and the company built its own fishing fleet from 1957. Privatised in 2006, Sardina invested 30 million euros in a new factory in 2013, the largest single investment in the Croatian fisheries industry since independence. Today Sardina operates seven fishing vessels, produces 40 million cans annually, runs mariculture farms in Maslinova Bay, and exports to over 20 countries across five continents. The Adriatic Queen label is its international export brand.
