Founded in 1920 in Le Guilvinec, a Bigouden fishing port at the western tip of Finistère, where sardines, albacore tuna, and mackerel were canned steps from the auction hall as soon as boats returned. The fleet at founding numbered over a hundred vessels. In 2003, the cannery relocated to Douarnenez, the historic centre of Breton sardine canning and home of the Penn Sardin, the women workers who hand-arranged fish in tins in a tradition still practiced today. Releases annual vintage-dated sardines with commissioned artist artwork. Sardines, mackerel, and albacore only from Breton coastal landings.
