Salvatore Orlando emigrated from Sicily to the Basque Country in the late 19th century, part of a group of Italian fishermen who brought their salt-curing knowledge to the Cantabrian coast. The cannery operates in Markina-Xemein, Basque Country. Anchovies arrive fresh, never frozen, and the curing process begins the same day. Acquired by Glatz GmbH in July 2022.
