Incorporated in 1982 by Nick and Joanne Jambor on the shores of Willapa Bay, Washington. Nick built a wooden smokehouse as a birthday gift for Joanne; they experimented with brines and smoke times, discovered their friends loved the result, and began selling to Seattle restaurants. The company grew from that smokehouse into a full cannery in Bay Center on Willapa Bay. Acquired by Taylor Shellfish Farms in 2017. The name means Good Spirit in the Chinook language. Now produces smoked oysters, mussels, salmon, and tuna alongside its signature maple-smoked Pacific oysters.
